How to search for data
data.gov.scot brings together datasets from Scottish public bodies in one place. You can search, filter and browse to find data.
Search by keyword
Type a word or phrase into the search bar on the homepage or the Data page.
If you get too many results, use more specific terms.
If you get too few results, use broader terms.
Search results will display:
the dataset name
a short description
the publishing organisation
the date it was last updated
Use this information to decide if a dataset is relevant before selecting it.
Filter your results
You can filter your results by:
organisation – who published the data
theme – what the dataset is about
data format
licence type
last updated date
You can also apply more than one filter. To remove a filter, deselect it.
Browse by theme or organisation
You can browse datasets by theme or organisation. This is useful if you want to know what data is available for a particular topic or theme.
