Description
The Rural Scotland Business Panel was established to measure and monitor the economic health of rural Scotland through capturing the experiences and opinions of rural businesses and social enterprises. It was commissioned through a partnership of the Scottish Government, Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE). The questionnaires for each wave of the survey can be found in each PDF report of the results, hosted on the Scottish Government website.

Consistency
Comparison can be made between each wave of the survey (and are reported on where findings are statistically significant). Each wave involves a sample of businesses based on the same sample specifications (with quotas based on location, size of business and sector). Some businesses within the survey sample will have taken part in multiple waves of the survey (as members of the Rural Scotland Business Panel, who are all invited to participate in each wave of the survey) but data is analysed and reported on at the individual wave level, rather than on a cumulative basis.
Timeliness
Results from the survey are published approximately 3 months after the conclusion of fieldwork for each wave of the survey.

Data are reported at the 95% confidence intervals. (-99) means a missing value because the question was not asked/not relevant to that respondent.
Quality management
Details of the methodology will be available in an accompanying technical report (still to be published). Ipsos, who carried out the survey, are governed by the Market Research Society (MRS) Code of Conduct. We are also members of ESOMAR and the Social Research Association and abide by their codes. We have been accredited to MRQSA (Market Research Quality Standards Association) since 1996. We are accredited to ISO 20252, ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 and registered under the Data Protection Act for holding and processing 'personal data' We are fully compliant with GDPR.
