Description
This spreadsheet is published pursuant to the requirements of the Habitats Regulations (as amended). It contains an evaluation of the conservation status of marine species (features) listed on Annexes II, IV and/or V of the Habitats Directive (as transposed to the Habitats Regulations), the pressures acting on those features, and the conservation measures in place or required. It also contains draft conclusions at the Management Unit (MU) level for S1351 Harbour Porpoise and S1349 Bottlenose Dolphin. The guidance has been applied in the same way as for the UK-level assessments.
NOTE: that only data for species management units relevant to Scotland have been included; data for the Offshore Channel and South West England and Coastal West Channel have therefore been excluded.
This file consists of four spreadsheets. These are:
Report – containing information on: Range, Population, Habitat for Species, Pressures, Conservation measures, Future prospects, Conclusions, UK National Site Network (pSCIs, SCIs, SACs) coverage for Annex II species, and Complementary information.
* Pressures – containing details on pressures for each feature. Pressures are set out using a standard set of codes produced by the EU 2019-2024 Article 17 of the Habitats Directive reporting (the full list is presented in the Approach Document, linked below). Where there is more than one pressure applicable to a feature, there is more than one row in the sheet.
* Measures – containing details on conservation measures for each feature. Measures are set out using a standard set of codes produced by the EU 2019-2024 Article 17 of the Habitats Directive reporting (the full list is presented in the Approach Document, linked below). Where there is more than one measure applicable to a feature, there is more than one row in the sheet.
* Audit Notes – containing further methodological detail on the information in the Report, Pressures, and Conservation measures sheets.
Further information on the methodology, including reporting guidelines and the Approach Document can be found on the JNCC website:
JNCC, DAERA, NatureScot, NE, NRW (2026). Habitats Regulations Reporting 2019-2024: Approach Document. Joint Nature Conservation Committee, Peterborough. Available to download from the JNCC website.
The Implementation Report has been produced in accordance with Regulation 3ZA of the Conservation (Natural Habitats &c.) Regulations 1994 (the Habitats Regulations). It gives an overview of the implementation of measures taken in Scotland to meet the provisions of the Birds and Habitats Directives, and to achieve the objectives of those Directives during the period 2019-2024. You can find the report on the Scottish Government website.
This dataset will not be updated. The Habitats Regulations ensure that European sites are protected and managed and continue to operate, as they have done since their original designation. This includes reporting on the sites and the network every six years. Datasets associated with future reporting will be published separately as appropriate.
