Known issues
There are a small number of known issues that have been identified during development and testing.
We're continuing to develop and improve data.gov.scot based on feedback from users and publishers. None of these issues prevent users from accessing data or publishers from managing and publishing datasets.
We’ll keep this page updated as we resolve or identify issues.
Data Dictionary

Our Open Data Publisher application is experiencing some difficulties with the data dictionary feature. It is not able to support Data Publishers in populating it correctly. The data.gov.scot team have made the decision to not use the data dictionary feature in Phase 1.
Impact
The data dictionary will contain no information in the description column.

Data Quality dimensions

data.gov.scot uses the Government Data Quality Framework to describe data quality. This is different to the data quality dimensions that were used on statistics.gov.scot, which were based on the European Statistical System’s (ESS) dimensions of Quality.
For migrated datasets from statistics.gov.scot previous data quality dimensions have been mapped to the new UK Government data quality statements. These have been done on a best-fit basis.
The Government Data Quality Framework uses six fields to describe data quality. Whereas there are only five ESS data quality statements. As a result ‘Uniqueness’ has been defaulted to ‘Not assessed.’
Where there were gaps in the data quality dimensions on statistics.gov.scot the mapped fields on data.gov.scot have been marked as ‘Not assessed’.
Impact
The information in data quality dimensions fields may not align perfectly to the new Data Quality Framework.

‘Published' date metadata field

For migrated datasets from statistics.gov.scot the ‘Published’ metadata field on data.gov.scot refers to the date of data migration, and not the date the dataset was first published on statistics.gov.scot. We’re exploring next steps and whether ‘Published’ should be updated to reflect when the dataset was first published as open data.
Impact
The ‘issued’ metadata field from statistics.gov.scot has not been migrated to data.gov.scot.

‘Last update’ date metadata field

When an update is made to a dataset’s data file, the ‘Last update’ date on an updated dataset does not match on the dataset and the data file.
The dataset page metadata shows the ‘Last update’ date correctly whereas the data file page does not update.
Impact
The ‘Last update' field can be wrong on the data file page, causing possible confusion.

‘Update frequency’ metadata field

The ‘Update frequency’ field has been defaulted to ‘annual’ for all migrated datasets. This is a new field on data.gov.scot.
Impact
Data publishers should check the ‘Update frequency’ field for their datasets and correct where needed.

A dataset’s ‘Organisation’ may be incorrect

During migration of data from statistics.gov.scot to data.gov.scot, some datasets were mapped to the incorrect organisation.
Impact
Some datasets may be assigned the incorrect organisation, impacting search and findability.
